If your office is practicing diversity correctly, there should be a good difference of opinions, age, and methods of having conversations of national importance. I think providing space is important.

I wonder what specific suggestions you have in mind. When people are invited to talk about subjects like these, it serves to acknowledge, but it can frustrate. Messaging, even for corporate america, needs thoughtful leadership. The loss of black men to police brutality cannot be denied, and by acknowledging the issue, our workplaces can start to address many more issues in society. But by shutting down the conversation, it is an easy way out, to sweep under the rug the problems people face on a daily basis.

Diversity and inclusion, for some organizations, is like a ministry and they believe it. For others, it’s window dressing. Where you work can really set the tone on this issue.
