So tradeshows, conferences, and online seminars with chatrooms is more or less what we have to work with right now. But saying content used to be king is like saying the top of the funnel used to be relevant and isn’t anymore.

I think people still go online for answers, google or youtube, and do some research before they’re even aware a live option exists. I grew several local young professional event groups by sending them my meetup.com groups(was the only thing around before facebook groups).

I started setting up Facebook groups to organize offline events and while the group might have 200 people in it, only 15 would show up for the in person event. A dinner with 15 people is still a lot of people, and you’ll have a hard time talking to everyone at a meaningful level.

Connection doesn’t happen without that front loaded content.
